ULEMCo and Exogen Partner to Scale Hydrogen Transport Solutions Across Global Markets

ULEMCo, a UK-based hydrogen technology company focused on heavy-duty transport applications, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Exogen Hydrogen Solutions to accelerate the deployment of hydrogen-powered mobility and infrastructure solutions across international markets.

The agreement, announced in Liverpool on 20 May 2026, establishes a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at combining ULEMCo’s existing hydrogen dual-fuel technologies with Exogen’s expertise in developing integrated hydrogen ecosystems. The partnership is intended to support the parallel development of hydrogen supply and demand, addressing a long-standing barrier to adoption often described as the “chicken-and-egg” problem in hydrogen infrastructure rollout.

ULEMCo’s technologies include dual-fuel hydrogen conversion systems for heavy goods vehicles and off-road equipment, alongside mobile refuelling solutions such as HyTANKa®. These systems are designed to enable fleet operators to reduce emissions while avoiding the immediate costs and operational disruption associated with full fleet replacement. Exogen, meanwhile, contributes experience across the hydrogen value chain, including production, logistics and industrial deployment, supported by techno-economic modelling and regulatory expertise within European markets.

The collaboration will initially focus on regions where coordinated hydrogen development is already underway or supported through public initiatives, including emerging hydrogen valley projects. Bulgaria, which has secured funding for its Hydrogen Valley programme, is identified as one of the early target markets where integrated infrastructure and vehicle deployment could be demonstrated at scale.

Both organisations say the aim is to create replicable frameworks that align vehicle deployment with hydrogen supply infrastructure, enabling more commercially viable pathways for decarbonising transport sectors that remain difficult to electrify. The approach is expected to support fleet operators in reducing exposure to volatile fossil fuel costs while advancing emissions reduction targets.

ULEMCo Managing Director Amanda Lyne said the partnership would help extend practical hydrogen solutions into new markets where conditions are suitable for rapid adoption. Exogen Managing Director Saverio Costanzo said the collaboration would strengthen the ability to connect infrastructure development with real-world applications, improving the viability of hydrogen ecosystems at scale.

The companies emphasised that the partnership reflects a broader industry shift towards deployable hydrogen solutions that integrate transport, production and infrastructure planning, rather than treating them as separate development tracks.
