Hyundai Motor Group presents hydrogen ecosystem vision for Europe in Rotterdam

Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled its hydrogen ecosystem vision for Europe at the World Hydrogen Summit 2026 in Rotterdam, showcasing how it intends to support the continent’s transition towards cleaner energy systems through an integrated hydrogen value chain spanning production, infrastructure and end-use applications.

The Group’s exhibition centres on its hydrogen brand and business platform HTWO, presenting a broad strategy that extends well beyond mobility. On display is the all-new NEXO, positioned as the successor to the world’s best-selling fuel cell electric vehicle, underlining Hyundai’s continued leadership in hydrogen-powered transport and its long-standing expertise in fuel cell technology.

Alongside the vehicle, Hyundai Motor Group is also highlighting its hydrogen fuel cell systems designed for wider applications, including stationary power generation, industrial use and integration into existing energy networks. The systems are presented as a key component in building scalable hydrogen infrastructure capable of supporting diverse energy demands across sectors.

The Group emphasised that its ambition in Europe is not limited to vehicles, but rather focused on enabling a complete hydrogen ecosystem in partnership with local stakeholders. Speaking at the summit, Mark Freymüller, CEO of Hyundai Energy & Hydrogen Europe, said the company aims to become a reliable partner in Europe’s hydrogen journey, highlighting that hydrogen should be viewed as a critical enabler of cleaner mobility, resilient energy systems and new industrial opportunities.

Hyundai Motor Group pointed to its extensive experience in South Korea, where it has developed hydrogen technologies across the full value chain, as a foundation for its European strategy. It said this experience positions it to contribute proven systems and practical expertise to support Europe’s ambitious hydrogen goals.

The Group also reaffirmed its established presence in the region’s hydrogen sector, referencing its pioneering role through the NEXO fuel cell SUV and the XCIENT Fuel Cell truck. Building on this foundation, Hyundai is seeking to deepen collaboration with European governments, industry partners and infrastructure providers to accelerate the development of sustainable hydrogen ecosystems across the continent.
