K Line, Provaris and Norwegian Hydrogen Advance Norway–Europe Hydrogen Shipping Supply Chain

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Provaris Energy, and Norwegian Hydrogen have entered a cooperation agreement to advance a commercial hydrogen supply chain linking Norway and Northern Europe.
The collaboration brings together hydrogen production, storage, and maritime transport capabilities in an effort to move compressed hydrogen exports closer to commercial deployment. Norwegian Hydrogen will provide production and development assets, while Provaris Energy contributes its compressed hydrogen storage and shipping solutions designed for large-scale transport. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha will support the project with shipping expertise, logistics optimisation, and potential long-term charter structures.
The partners said the initiative is intended to define the cost and delivery model for hydrogen exports from Norway to European markets, shifting the project from concept development towards commercial readiness. They also highlighted that integrating established shipping operations is key to improving project bankability and supporting engagement with future offtakers and stakeholders.
The planned supply chain is designed to use compressed hydrogen transported via specialised carriers and barge systems, with the goal of enabling scalable exports to regions with growing demand for low-carbon energy imports. The companies said the collaboration represents a step towards establishing a structured and economically viable hydrogen import corridor into Northern Europe.
