Vema Hydrogen and CHARBONE Partner on Québec Hydrogen Supply Chain

Vema Hydrogen and CHARBONE Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a hydrogen production and distribution project in Québec, aiming to strengthen regional supply chains and reduce transport costs for industrial gas customers.
The agreement brings together Vema Hydrogen’s Engineered Mineral Hydrogen production technology with CHARBONE Corporation’s purification, compression, and distribution infrastructure. Together, the companies intend to establish a more efficient “well-to-market” hydrogen supply chain designed to serve growing industrial demand across Québec and wider North America.
The partnership leverages Québec’s position as an emerging hydrogen hub, where concentrated industrial activity and established transport links allow for shorter distribution routes and lower overall logistics costs. The project is also expected to support future expansion into adjacent markets, including low-carbon fuels for maritime and aviation use, e-fuels, and power generation applications.
Executives from both companies said the collaboration reflects increasing demand for cleaner and more reliable industrial gas supply. They added that combining production and downstream logistics capabilities would help accelerate the deployment of low-carbon hydrogen solutions at a commercial scale.
The initiative follows recent pilot activity in Québec and is intended to broaden offtake opportunities into industrial gas distribution and clean mobility markets, positioning both firms to support growing demand for low-emissions energy solutions.
