Xebec supplies hydrogen purification system to FuelCell Energy

Xebec Adsorption Inc. (a Canadian provider of end-to-end systems for gas purification and the production of renewable gases) has received an order for hydrogen purification system from FuelCell Energy, Inc (an American fuel cell power company).

Xebec will supply a Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) based system which will be used to purify hydrogen produced by FuelCell Energy’s SureSourceTM Hydrogen platform. The system is expected to be delivered by Q3 this year to Toyota’s operations at the Port of Long Beach in California. Green hydrogen will be produced from renewable natural gas (RNG) and fed into FuelCell Energy’s trigeneration process. The hydrogen will be supplied for fuel cell vehicles.

Toyota contracted FuelCell Energy at the Port of Long Beach to supply hydrogen for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and provide reclaimed water produced by its platform to facilitate car-washing operations.

Jason Few, President and Chief Executive Officer of FuelCell Energy, Inc., said: “FuelCell Energy is excited to work with Xebec to deliver high-purity hydrogen. We believe that this installation will be the only installation in the world simultaneously delivering carbon-neutral power, green hydrogen, and water from a single platform.”

Kurt Sorschak, Chairman, CEO and President of Xebec Adsorption Inc. said: “This installation at the Port of Long Beach is an excellent application of distributed hydrogen generation for fuel cell electric vehicles using renewable natural gas to provide renewable hydrogen.”
