Plagazi to drive its flagship project in waste-to-circular hydrogen production
Plagazi AB is proud to announce that its flagship project has been selected to receive a €29.5 million grant from the European Union’s prestigious EU Innovation Fund. Following several months of comprehensive due diligence on Plagazi’s technology, business model, and future potential, this support underscores Plagazi’s critical role in advancing Europe’s transition toward a net-zero economy through pioneering waste-to-hydrogen project.
Out of 337 applications, Plagazi’s project was chosen as one of only 85 to receive funding. The grant will accelerate Plagazi’s efforts to expand its innovative waste-to-hydrogen solutions, which convert non-recyclable waste into sustainable hydrogen—a vital step in reducing reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to Europe’s decarbonization and circular economy goals. The EU emphasized Plagazi’s importance as a company in supporting Europe’s net-zero ambitions and reducing CO₂ emissions.
“This grant is a significant milestone for Plagazi and a validation of years of hard work by our talented team,” said Soran Shwa. “We are proud to contribute to the sustainable energy transition and are deeply committed to advancing Europe and Sweden’s role in sustainable energy through our innovative solution.
Funding from the EU Innovation Fund will enable Plagazi to scale its projects and make a meaningful impact across energy-intensive industries, reinforcing Sweden’s position as a leader in sustainable energy innovation. By recycling waste that would otherwise be non-recyclable into sustainable hydrogen, Plagazi is advancing a solution aligned with the EU’s broader circular economy objectives, supporting long-term sustainability and resource efficiency.
“We extend our gratitude to Zaz Ventures for their invaluable support and guidance throughout the application process,” added Soran Shwan. “This achievement highlights the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and shared vision in achieving groundbreaking results. Together with our partners, we look forward to making a lasting environmental impact.”
Plagazi remains focused on reducing emissions and fostering a sustainable future, leveraging this grant to accelerate the development and deployment of hydrogen technologies that align with Europe’s ambitious climate goals.
