Nel receives electrolysers orders
The fuelling station project is an opportunity to demonstrate the flexibility and multiple value streams offered by green hydrogen.
Nel Hydrogen US (a subsidiary of Nel ASA) has received a contract for a containerised PEM electrolyser and light-duty hydrogen fuelling station package from a leading power and gas utility in the US.
The containerised PEM electrolyser will be integrated with a 700 bar H2Station® hydrogen fuelling equipment package at a power generating site in the US. The project will demonstrate several use cases for green hydrogen, including cooling the turbine generators, direct hydrogen injection into the natural gas fuel stream at the plant, and fuelling a fleet of light-duty fuel cell vehicles to be operated by the utility.
Power for the electrolyser will come from various sources, including an on-site solar PV array, making it a near carbon-free source of hydrogen for all three use cases. The purchase order has a value of around US$ 5 million, and the equipment will be delivered in late 2022 and early 2023.
Nel Hydrogen electrolyser in food production
Early this week, Nel Hydrogen US also received orders for multiple PEM electrolysers to provide green hydrogen for sustainable carbon negative food production.
PEM electrolysis hydrogen production units to be delivered to a leader in commercialising sustainable protein technology. This application for green hydrogen is a novel and exciting approach to addressing both climate change and food production for the developing world.
The project represents an important opportunity to showcase a green hydrogen solution that supports carbon reduction in the food production industry.
The purchase orders have a value of around US$ 5 million, and deliveries of the equipment will be staggered over the remainder of 2022 and into 2023.
