Hyzon to supply 500 hydrogen trucks to Hongyun in China

Under the agreement, Hyzon will supply 500 zero-emissions trucks to Hongyun Automobile

Hyzon Motors (a US-based supplier of hydrogen fuel cell-powered commercial vehicles) has signed an MoU with Shanghai Hydrogen Hongyun Automotive Co., ltd. to supply 500 units of 49-ton hydrogen-powered tractor trucks.

Under the agreement, the initial order for 100 vehicles is expected to be received by the end of this year, while the order for the remaining 400 will be placed in 2022.

Craig Knight, CEO of Hyzon, said: “Hydrogen fuel cell technology has been adopted more quickly in China than in the rest of the world. This allows Hyzon to begin the critical work of decarbonizing the environment while building experience, capacity, and expertise which will be applied globally.”

Hongyun Automotive, a Shanghai-based logistic company, is focused on delivering its logistic solutions through fuel cell vehicles. Its focus is on the operation of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks by leveraging its rich end-user resources in the logistics industry. The company facilitates its customers with operation, leasing and maintenance services across China. After receiving the order from Hyzon Motors, HongYun Automotive will be responsible for the subsequent commercial arrangements with its customers.

In a separate development, on 9th September, Hyzon also rang the Nasdaq Opening Bell to open the day’s trading on the exchange and celebrated Hyzon’s listing on Nasdaq on 19th July 2021.
