Frames designs LOHC Storage Plant; Upstart Power launches hydrogen generator

Frames implement innovative systems for processing various gases, including novel hydrogen technologies.

Frames Group will collaborate with Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies and MAN Energy Solutions to design a modular and skid-mounted LOHC Storage Plant.

Based on Hydrogenious’ LOHC (Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier) technology, the plant will be located at Chempark Dormagen, Cologne, Germany, and will have the capacity to store around 5 tonnes/day of hydrogen. The plant will be the first industrial-scale LOHC plant in Europe. MAN Energy Solutions will design the plant’s reactor.

In 2019, Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies, Frames Group, MAN Energy Solutions formed a partnership to design, supply, and startup industrial-scale Hydrogen storage plants based on Hydrogenious’ LOHC technology.

The LOHC will be loaded into a truck for road transport to LOHC Release Plants and hydrogen off-takers in Europe.

In a separate development, Upstart Power (a developer and manufacturer of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power systems) introduced Upgen NXG, its next-generation Fuel Cell Generator. It will deliver complete energy resilience and grid independence in residential and industrial energy management applications. These generators are deployed in combination with battery storage and optional solar.

Paul Osenar, CEO of Upstart Power, said, “The Upgen NXG Fuel Cell Generator empowers homeowners and industrial customers with the benefit of full power resilience without having to compromise on safety, environment or cost.”
