Element 1 Corp. and MMM ENERGY team up regarding methanol to hydrogen generation

Element 1 Corp. and MMM ENERGY (through its subsidiary Methanol Reformer SL) have entered into a strategic partnership agreement, including a license and technology transfer agreement that enables the development, manufacturing and commercialization of Element’s technology 1 regarding methanol to hydrogen generators.

The scope of the collaboration is in Europe, Latam and Australia, as well as other countries.

Methanol to Hydrogen Generators are machines that produce hydrogen with a high purity greater than 99.97% using one of the most viable clean fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help meet global decarbonization goals. Full carbon neutrality can be achieved through the use of “green methanol”.

The first methanol reformers manufactured by Methanol Reformer SL will be on the market from July of this year.

Methanol Reformer SL is closing strategic alliances with fuel cell manufacturers to provide its customers with a fully integrated solution system that allows the production of hydrogen (from 9.6 to 26 kg/h) and electricity on demand (from 150 to 230 kW) anywhere.

The hydrogen generator solution is scalable, modular, and “plug and play ” for scaled-up hydrogen or electric power deployments.

Dave Edlund said, “We are proud and delighted to partner with MMM ENERGY to accelerate the adoption of fuel cell technology for clean and efficient electricity generation that incorporates the use of renewable fuels. Producing high-purity hydrogen cost-effectively leverages its appeal as an energy-dense, renewable fuel, while greatly mitigating the storage and transportation challenges that prevent hydrogen from achieving widespread use in both stationary and mobile applications.”

Jordi Priu said, “We firmly believe that Element 1 solutions fit very well as an energy solution to many of the challenges we currently have in the world, such as the Green Deal, sustainability, decarbonization and lack of energy”.

“The methanol-to-hydrogen generator technology, together with our industrial experience of more than 70 years and our international presence, will be key to the success of the project.”

“We expect to grow and expand the business very quickly. The MMM ENERGY team has been participating in many exhibitions and conferences with amazing positive feedback from the market side.”

Opportunities with respect to hydrogen generator solutions are vast and include primary and backup power solutions for database centers, electric generators, material handling forklifts, telecommunications cell stations, onboard solutions for railways ( replacing diesel engines) and heavy vehicles (trucks, buses, mining trucks). Additional applications of interest are stationary solutions to meet Green Deal mandates providing charging stations for electric vehicles and hydrogen for fuel cell vehicle refueling. System attributes include low capital expense, grid independence, competitive energy cost, and carbon neutrality.

Methanol Reformer SL is closing strategic alliances with fuel cell manufacturers and other clients to position its products in the market and become an important player in the Green Deal and the energy transition toward decarbonization.
