Air Liquide and Eni cooperate on CSS; Nel supplies H2Station modules to HysetCo
Air Liquide and Eni cooperate in decarbonising hard-to-abate industries in Europe.
Air Liquide and Eni will collaborate on assessing decarbonisation solutions in the Mediterranean region of Europe, focused on hard-to-abate industrial sectors.
The two companies combine their well-established expertise and know-how to enable CO2 capture, aggregation, transport and permanent storage.
Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) represents one of the fundamental tools in the decarbonisation process, especially for the most carbon-intensive industrial sectors, and will play a key role in achieving the important emission reduction targets set at the European level as part of the Green Deal.
Air Liquide and Eni will collaborate to identify clusters of hard-to-abate industries in this geographic area and define the best possible configuration to develop a large-scale CCS program.
Air Liquide will leverage its ongoing CCS initiatives in Northern Europe and its innovative proprietary technology CryocapTM, able to capture up to 95% of CO2 emissions from industrial facilities. Eni, leveraging its experience in gas fields exploitation and management, will identify the most suitable permanent CO2 storage locations in the Mediterranean sea.
CCS is pivotal in the decarbonisation process, particularly for the most energy and carbon-intensive industrial sectors.
Meanwhile, Air Liquide plans to accelerate hydrogen development:
- To at least triple its turnover to reach more than €6 billion by 2035
- To invest around € 8 billion in the low-carbon hydrogen supply chain by 2035
- It aims at bringing its total electrolysis capacity to 3 GW by 2030.
Nel Hydrogen Fueling to supply H2StationTM modules to HysetCo
Nel Hydrogen Fueling has received a purchase order from HysetCo for several H2StationTM modules to be used for light-duty fuel cell electric vehicles in Paris, France.
HysetCo is a pioneer of hydrogen mobility devoted to developing a hydrogen refuelling stations network, which owns the world’s largest fleet of hydrogen taxis deployed in the Paris region.
The installation of the H2StationTM modules at the future HysetCo station of Le Bourget is partly funded with the support of the public-private partnership of FCH JU and is scheduled to be operational in 2022.
