Jogmec and Alberta to work on hydrogen
Alberta also released its hydrogen roadmap to support the development of a robust provincial hydrogen economy.
Jogmec today (22nd November) announced to have agreed with the Province of Alberta, Canada, to promote further cooperation in carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen and fuel ammonia production.
The MoU, which was signed last month, aimed to contribute to the supply of clean energy to Japan and strengthen strategic cooperation in CCS, hydrogen, and fuel ammonia production to the existing scope of cooperation. Jogmec will promote mutual cooperation with Alberta in collaboration with Alberta Jobs, Economy and Innovation, Alberta Energy and the Invest Alberta Corporation to supply clean energy to Japan through business support for Japanese companies.
The province of Alberta is rich in natural resources, particularly in oil and natural gas resources. In the CCS sector, Alberta has a well-developed business environment, including a legal framework and carbon pricing system.
Early this month, Alberta issued the Alberta Hydrogen Roadmap, which outlined the enormous opportunity for government, industry and municipalities to grow Alberta’s hydrogen sector and position the province as an international leader in clean hydrogen.
The roadmap is part of Alberta’s Recovery Plan and focuses on several key pillars to support the growth of a hydrogen economy, including building demand, enabling carbon capture, utilisation and storage, de-risking early investments and establishing exports.
