SFC Energy launches new fuel cell solutions for harsh weather
In case of insufficient solar panel power, the fuel cell can turn on automatically to take over the power supply.
SFC Energy AG, a supplier of hydrogen and methanol fuel cells, has launched a new portfolio of EFOY Pro energy solutions, including EFOY ProCabinet, the EFOY ProTrailer and other mobile and stationary energy solutions.
These systems can be operated in the most adverse weather conditions, such as at the North Pole. The EFOY ProCabinet is an outdoor cabinet solution for a self-sufficient, stationary power supply with EFOY Pro fuel cells, providing space for up to two EFOY Pro fuel cells as well as one or more fuel cartridges and batteries. The EFOY Pro fuel cell generates power at outdoor temperatures of – 40 °C and + 50 °C.
EFOY Pro system was used in a year-long MOSAiC expedition in the central Arctic helped researchers carry out measurements on the energy transfer between the atmosphere and the ice.
The new EFOY ProTrailer is enclosed in an insulated NEMA 3R housing and features a vertical mast and a fixed solar mount, providing tank autonomy of up to 12 months. It is ideal for short- or long-term operations in far-flung areas with no access to a power grid.
The individual EFOY Pro sites can be remotely operated and monitored with the EFOY Cloud through a laptop, tablet or smartphone, which reduces maintenance, where additional IoT applications can be easily integrated.
Dr Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy AG, said, “In the future, the demand for environmentally friendly and decentralised power generators will increase.”
