Mitsubishi Power buys single stack alkaline electrolyser from Hydrogen Pro
Both companies are scaling and validating hydrogen technology to support decarbonisation.
HydrogenPro AS will supply Mitsubishi Power with the world’s largest single stack high-pressure alkaline electrolyser system to produce hydrogen.
The electrolyser system will have 1100 Nm3/h and will be installed at Heroya Industrial Park in Norway in the first quarter of 2022. Hydrogen Pro will be operating the facility, with work starting immediately.
Initially, both partners will carry out a structured validation program and optimise production, followed by introducing similar electrolyser technology in the US market later in the year. The validation and optimisation program will play an important role in customer adoption.
Marten Lunde, the CEO of HydrogenPro As, said, “We are delighted to work with Mitsubishi Power to construct this plant and to implement a joint verification program designed to optimise our electrolysers for the US market, which is expected to offer significant opportunities during the coming years.”
Paul F. Browning, President and CEO, Mitsubishi Power Americas, said, “We will support HydrogenPro enhance and scale their products while also deploying a global supply chain.”
HydrogenPro designs and supplies customised hydrogen plants which ISO 9001 certified. Its core product is the alkaline high-pressure electrolyser. It is also targeting a production cost for green hydrogen of US$ 1.2/kg in 2022.
Previously, HydrogenPro, H2V Industry and Mitsubishi Power Europe signed an MoU to join hands to develop and deliver large-scale hydrogen projects, including currently ongoing projects.
Recently, HydrogenPro also completed a fabrication plant for next-generation electrode technology in Denmark, starting full-scale test production. It also started its test and R&D centre at Heroya, Porsgrunn, Norway.
