UL Solutions Launches Hydrogen Fueling Safety Certification

UL Solutions has introduced new certification services for hydrogen fueling station components, aimed at improving safety and reliability as hydrogen infrastructure expands globally.
The new UL Type Examination Certification focuses on critical components such as valves and dispenser hoses, evaluating them against internationally recognized standards, including ISO 19880-3 and ISO 19880-5. These standards cover performance and safety requirements for equipment used in high-pressure hydrogen fueling systems, helping manufacturers address risks such as leaks and system failures.
The certification provides independent, third-party validation through design reviews, technical documentation checks, and performance testing. This gives manufacturers a clearer pathway to demonstrate compliance, build market trust, and accelerate product adoption in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
As hydrogen demand continues to grow across sectors like transport and industry, ensuring the safety of fueling infrastructure is becoming a central priority. UL Solutions’ new services are designed to support this transition by embedding safety into the design and deployment of hydrogen technologies, enabling more reliable and scalable infrastructure worldwide.
