Sinopec and Longi to cooperate on hydrogen

Chinese companies are accelerating their national and international partnerships for the promotion of the hydrogen industry.

Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation) and Longi Green Energy Technology, a solar manufacturer, agree to cooperate on the green hydrogen transition, H2 Bulletin reports.

It is expected that the two companies would support each other in advancing the hydrogen value chain, which would contribute to China goal of reaching a peak of carbon by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. Zhang Yuzhuo, chairman of Sinopec, and Li Zhenguo, founder and president of Longji Co., Ltd., witnessed the signing of the agreement. Longi has formally entered the hydrogen market after registering a company in China under the name Xi’an Longi Hydrogen Technology Co. on 31st March 2021.

Chinese companies have been joining forces to promote fuel cells and hydrogen economy to help the country transit to carbon neutrality. This week, the inaugural meeting of a new formed Z-park Hydrogen, and Fuel Cell Industry Alliance (ZHFCA) was organised in Beijing, which was attended by more than 150 attendees. China Z-park Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Industry Alliance is a legally established and non-profitable social organisation to support the development of hydrogen and fuel cell industries.

Further, this week, Bosch and the premium commercial vehicle manufacturer Qingling Motors have established a joint venture in China named Bosch Hydrogen Powertrain Systems (Chongqing) Co. Ltd. The new company will develop, assemble and market fuel cell systems – so-called Fuel Cell Power Modules – for the Chinese market.

Meanwhile, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Zhongke of Hydrogen Power (Guangzhou) New Energy Equipment and Agile Group Holdings to develop a hydrogen fuel cell power supply system industrial park in Guangzhou’s Nansha district.

The abovementioned and more recent developments are reported in details in the H2 Bulletin subscription platform.
