Petrofac, Protium sign partnership agreement

The alliance is expected to support the creation of a more integrated energy future in the UK.

Petrofac (a service provider to the energy industry) and Protium (a green hydrogen energy company) today (23rd September) have signed a strategic partnership to deliver innovative green hydrogen and net-zero projects across the UK.

The partnership aims to provide clients access to Protium’s green hydrogen expertise and Petrofac’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and energy project delivery legacy.

The partnership will leverage Petrofac’s technical engineering expertise during the early phases of Protium’s projects to deliver the complete EPC offering to shared clients, including projects involving renewable energy assets, green hydrogen production facilities and downstream hydrogen equipment.

John Pearson, COO of Petrofac, said that Petrofac will support Protium in its target to deliver 1GW of production assets by 2030 for a range of industrial customers.

Chris Jackson, CEO of Protium, commented that Petrofac experience in green hydrogen EPC work (especially with Infinite Blue Energy’s Arrowsmith project in Australia) would enable Protium to deliver exceptional projects.

Protium has its CAPEX totalling over £1 billion for projects across the aviation, road transport, alcoholic manufacturing and food & beverage sectors. It supports businesses to transform their decarbonisation strategies to achieve net-zero, specifically through the decarbonisation of mobility, thermal and electrical demand. In July, Protium expanded its national footprint with the opening of Protium Wales.
