Peric, ABB partner for cost-effective electrolyser technology

The partnership will integrate technology to help minimise the cost of hydrogen production.

Peric (China’s leading manufacturer of hydrogen generation technology) and ABB signed an MoU to cooperate on accelerating the adoption of hydrogen as an energy source.

ABB will offer its automation, electrification and digital solutions, and Peric will offer its electrolysers expertise to help reduce hydrogen generation costs in the future. The partnership will integrate ABB technology solutions into the project, particularly rectifiers, distributed control systems, energy management, advanced analytics, instrumentation and telecommunication.

The integration will reduce costs for electrolyser production. ABB digital solution will integrate all data from the plant’s equipment into a single automation system that will be continuously analysed to maintain continuous and efficient operation. The partners will work on a detailed action plan and specific agreement to be defined over the next three months.

Peric has over 60 years of history in supplying products and technologies for hydrogen generation and enhancing its capabilities to manufacture highly efficient electrolysers. Early this month, it has delivered a set of PEM hydrogen production equipment with a hydrogen production capacity of 300 Nm³/h to a large chemical company in Malaysia.

Last year, ABB also agreed with Hydrogen Optimized to jointly explore developing large-scale green hydrogen production systems connected to the electrical grid to offer a clean, sustainable and affordable energy source. The agreement aimed to explore implementing a demonstration system and preparing a 100 MW plant design and commercialisation strategies.
