Nel launches new containerised large-scale PEM electrolysers

Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, announced today (16th February) to have launched MC250 and MC500 containerised proton PEM electrolysers.

Nel ASA is a Norwegian HQ company providing solutions for the production, storage and distribution of hydrogen from renewable energy sources. The containerised MC250 and MC500 will be delivered as standard 1.25 and 2.5 MW (246 and 492 Nm3/h) configurations respectively. Nel said it has launched these new hydrogen generators as it has been experiencing significant interest in the market’s solutions.

These products integrate Nel’s newly developed 1.25 MW PEM cell-stack, allowing higher capacities per unit and lower cost. The platform enables multiple units to be integrated easily in the field, which was a key consideration during the development.

Filip Smeets, SVP Electrolyser Division of Nel, said, “We are proud to officially launch the MC250 and MC500, representing automated MW-class on-site hydrogen generators utilising a modular containerised design for ease of installation and integration.”

He further added that the company is paying close attention to the market and its customers’ needs. With the containerised M Series PEM electrolysers, Nel is now offering the same robustness and reliability as its conventional M Series units, enabling faster and more flexible installation.
