Motive partners with Tevva to supply hydrogen fuel and HGVs

Motive is partnering with Tevva to supply green hydrogen to HGV customers.

Motive Fuels (the UK’s largest hydrogen refuelling operator) is partnered with Tevva (the electric and hydrogen truck pioneer) to offer green hydrogen fuel as a package with Tevva’s trucks helping UK truck operators decarbonise the heavy transport sector.

Motive and Tevva will work together to support Tevva customers with safe, convenient, affordable and sustainable hydrogen.

Motive will supply hydrogen through its existing station network across England, and UK-wide through mobile refuelling stations, which can be deployed in days, and build new hydrogen stations. All of the Motive’s hydrogen supply is green and produced in the UK, meaning there are very low emissions in the supply chain and virtually no reliance on energy imports.

Tevva intends to offer a range of hydrogen-electric trucks with 7.5, 12 and 19-tonne variants which comfortably meet demanding duty cycles for nearly all urban and extra-urban use cases. Tevva’s innovation means that its customers can drive for longer distances, with heavier payloads and/or with more uptime and will have reassurance because of the technology’s reliability and safety.

Crucially, hydrogen refuelling typically takes a similar time to diesel truck refuelling (5-20 minutes), while hydrogen-electric trucks allow dual-use of both battery electric and hydrogen energy sources, which future-proof customers as they transition away from fossil fuels.

Dr Harsh Pershad, Head of Hydrogen at Tevva, said, “We want to make hydrogen fuel usage to be convenient, affordable and sustainable. To achieve this, we are helping remove some of the adoption risks associated with this transition as part of our hydrogen refuelling services.”

Dr James Cross, Commercial Director at Motive Fuels, said, “The hydrogen transport industry is new, and this combined offer will help customers access both vehicles and fuel.”
