Japanese ambassador visited PGE Lahendong area for joint study on green hydrogen development

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk. a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (Pertamina NRE) which is part of PT Pertamina (Persero), was visited by the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, along with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Incorporated (TEPCO HD) for a joint study on the development of Green Hydrogen at the PGE Lahendong Area Office in Tomohon City, North Sulawesi.

Pertamina NRE and TEPCO HD will combine PGE’s Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) technology and TEPCO HD’s hydrogen production technology to develop optimal operational technology and achieve cost-effective green hydrogen production and transportation through this joint study and will be supported in its development by NEDO.

Dannif Danusaputro added”Hydrogen production is one of Pertamina NRE’s geothermal business areas in the future. We are currently developing a pilot project for green hydrogen in the PGE geothermal area with a production target of 100 kg/day. With its potential, we are confident that we can become a pioneer in producing green hydrogen and contributing to reducing carbon emissions. We are excited to be working with TEPCO HD and NEDO in this development”.
