Hexagon Purus breaks ground on production site in Kassel, Germany

The expansion is expected to create 150 new jobs and operations are scheduled to start in 2023.

Hexagon Purus, a world-leading supplier of zero-emission mobility solutions, is scaling up capacity in Kassel, Germany.

Along with representatives from the city of Kassel, a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was held for the company’s new engineering and production hub for hydrogen cylinders.

Hexagon Purus’ new facility is located in Niederzwehren industrial park. The 38,8000 square meter site will house a production facility and a technology centre for the development and pilot production of new products.

The mayor of Kassel, Christian Geselle, emphasized the importance of Hexagon’s expansion for the city, “By providing a site in the Kassel Niederzwehren industrial park, we were able to offer Hexagon Purus the best conditions to develop and expand. I am very pleased that the company has decided to continue its growth path in Kassel to work on the further development of clean, sustainable, and zero-emission mobility solutions, making an important contribution in driving the energy transition forward.

Michael Kleschinski, Executive Vice President LDC in Hexagon Purus, said, “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Hexagon Purus. Kassel will become the ‘European Hub’ of high-pressure cylinders production for our zero-emission mobility solutions.”
