Air Products orders electrolysers from Thyssenkrupp; PowerCell to supply FC to Siemens

Arizona offers ideal conditions for low-price renewable energy, whereas California has set the right regulations to decarbonise its transportation sector.

Air Products has awarded Thyssenkrupp Nucera the supply of their alkaline water electrolysis technology for a 10 tonnes/day facility to produce green liquid hydrogen in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Under this contract, Thyssenkrupp Nucera will deliver two of their large-scale alkaline water electrolysis standard modules. Project activities have been initiated, and the facility is expected to be on stream in 2023.

Air Products’ proprietary technology will convert gaseous hydrogen to liquid hydrogen. The production site will also include a terminal for Air Products to distribute the product for the mobility market in California and other locations in the US.

PowerCell receives an order for a marine fuel cell module from Siemens Energy

PowerCell Sweden AB and Siemens Energy have signed an agreement covering extended cooperation in fuel cell-based propulsion and power generating systems for marine applications.

The agreement is based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed by both companies in August 2018. As part of the extended cooperation, Siemens Energy has ordered a 100kW marine fuel-cell module.

Siemens Energy will use the module for tests related to the company’s development of fuel cell-based marine systems for propulsion and power generation. The 100 kW output module represents the first step in translating the strategic partnership between Siemens Energy and PowerCell into offers to the market.
