New Talara Refinery’s hydrogen plant ready for commissioning
The hydrogen production plant of the New Talara Refinery is ready for commissioning.
As part of the start-up tests of the New Talara Refinery, Peru, which started on April 12, is planned to start up the Hydrogen Production/Purification Unit (PHP) in mid-May.
The construction and equipping have been completed within schedule, including tests of equipment with energy and fluids inside (commissioning), under the supervision of manufacturers and technologists.
The plant is equipped with Danish technology that will allow hydrogen to be produced in the most efficient way to reduce sulfur in diesel and gasoline.
Currently, the start-up activities of this auxiliary unit of the New Talara Refinery are being coordinated jointly with the contractor Cobra Synohidro, the licensor Haldor Topsoe and the main inspectors.
Following the comprehensive scheme for the start-up of the New Talara Refinery, it will be necessary to have the hydrogen plant in July 2022.
The PHP is an auxiliary unit of great relevance for the New Talara Refinery. It is of Danish technology, from the Haldor Topsoe. It will allow hydrogen to be produced in the most efficient way to reduce sulfur in diesel and gasoline. For its commissioning, it has the services of water, steam, hydrogen and electricity, among others.
The Talara Refinery Modernization Project is a megaproject that consists of installing new processes units and facilities oriented to improve the quality of the products, increase the production capacity of the refinery, and new more complex processes and more advanced processes technology.
