Nel to supply 2MW electrolyser to H2 Energy; collaborates with First Solar

Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser, a part of Nel ASA will supply a 2 MW PEM electrolyser, a fully containerised MC400 electrolyser to H2 Energy.

The order is the second system to be supplied as part of the green hydrogen infrastructure network currently providing hydrogen to the first 46 Hyundai trucks running in Switzerland. The fleet is aimed to reach 1,600 by 2025. The system will be filling trailers directly at the site to dispatch the hydrogen to the Hydrospider network in Switzerland.

H2 Energy is working together with various partners to establish a nationwide network of hydrogen stations and a corresponding supply chain in Switzerland and elsewhere. Its focus is on producing only renewable energy-based hydrogen to help in decarbonisation.

In a separate development, Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser will also collaborate with First Solar, Inc. (an American solar technology company producing eco-efficient solar modules) to develop integrated Photo Voltaic (PV) Hydrogen power plants.

Jon André Lokke, CEO Nel, said, “We will leverage our capabilities to extend our common product offering the end customer with a target to be able to deliver the lowest total cost of solar to hydrogen.”

Initially, First Solar and Nel will collaborate to develop an integrated power plant control and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. The network architecture will enable optimisation of PV-electrolyser hybrid projects, resulting in the lowest total cost of hydrogen and electricity.
