Path2 Hydrogen and MP Industries Partner for Hydrogen in Europe

Path2 Hydrogen AG and MP Industries OU have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop hydrogen and renewable energy projects across Europe. The collaboration aims to combine Path2’s production and hydrogen processing technologies with MPI’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) expertise.

Under the agreement, both companies will work together on feasibility studies and project execution, leveraging their respective strengths across the hydrogen value chain.

The partnership integrates multiple stages of hydrogen development that are often handled separately. On the production side, Path2—through its ProtonH2 technology—focuses on generating hydrogen-rich syngas from underground resources such as depleted oil wells, offering a potentially lower-cost and lower-carbon alternative to traditional methods. This syngas can be used for power generation or refined into hydrogen for mobility and industrial applications.

For storage and distribution, Path2’s GenH2 technology provides liquefaction and controlled storage systems, designed to efficiently convert and transport hydrogen while minimizing losses. The technology is based on systems originally developed for aerospace applications.

Meanwhile, MPI will take on the role of EPC contractor for European projects, overseeing construction as well as long-term operations and maintenance, supported by its experience in regional energy markets.

Chief Executive Officer Josh McMorrow said the partnership creates a complete pathway from hydrogen production to delivery in Europe, combining upstream and midstream capabilities with strong project execution.

Martins Brinins added that the collaboration brings together complementary strengths, positioning both companies to deliver fully integrated hydrogen solutions as demand grows across European markets.
