GreenH moves ahead with two 10-MW green hydrogen projects in Norway

Norwegian green hydrogen developer GreenH has made final investment decisions to advance two hydrogen projects after fulfilling the criteria set by the government agency Enova for financial support.
In a separate announcement, Enova confirmed that all five hydrogen projects, which received a combined NOK 777 million (USD 76.3 million / EUR 66 million) in 2024 funding, have now reached investment milestones and are moving into the construction phase. The broader goal of these projects is to build a hydrogen network along Norway’s coastline.
GreenH secured Enova funding for three projects, including a facility in Bodø, which reached its investment decision earlier this year. In this project, German asset manager Luxcara has acquired a majority stake. The company is now advancing its green hydrogen plants at Slagentangen (near Tønsberg) in collaboration with Grieg New Energy, and another in Kristiansund.
“These projects are key to establishing Norway’s first functional hydrogen value chain. As they move from planning to construction, we are taking major steps toward making hydrogen a viable fuel for the maritime sector — and proving that zero emissions are achievable in practice,” said Sigmund O. Storset,.
Norwegian electrolyser manufacturer Nel ASA (OSE:NEL) announced that it has signed an agreement with GreenH to serve as the technology provider for the Kristiansund and Slagentangen projects. While the final scope and delivery schedule are yet to be confirmed, Nel is expected to supply at least 10 MW of electrolyser capacity per site.
This development follows news from last week that Nel also received an order to deliver 40 MW of electrolysers for two additional Enova-supported projects.
