Toyota launches second generation Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle

Toyota Motor Corp introduced the second generation of Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCV), improving its fuel efficiency and expanding range compared to the original model (the world’s first commercialised hydrogen fuel cell electric sedan introduced in 2014).   According to the company official, the updated redesigned 2021 Mirai fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) will be available in Australia next year.

The five seaters Mirai has three hydrogen fuel tanks that produce energy for its electric motor, which can cross 850km nearly 30% more than a four-seater sedan of the first generation that is capable of transiting 650km with its two tanks.

Toyota Chief Technology Officer Masahiko Maeda said that the new Mirai would be the start of a fully developed hydrogen car.
