Element One Partners with Revora to Advance North American Magnesium Supply Chain
Element One Hydrogen & Critical Minerals Corp. has signed a strategic technology partnership with Revora Materials to evaluate the commercial production of magnesium and other critical minerals from domestic North American feedstock.
The companies have entered into a memorandum of understanding that combines Element One’s access to magnesium-rich olivine from the Twin Sisters ultramafic complex in Washington State with Revora’s proprietary mineral extraction technology. The collaboration is intended to support the development of an integrated North American supply chain for magnesium while also assessing the recovery of nickel, cobalt and silica.
Magnesium is classified as a critical mineral by both the United States and Canada due to its importance in aerospace, automotive, defence, battery production and lightweight manufacturing. With North America currently importing the majority of its magnesium requirements, the partners believe domestic production could strengthen supply chain resilience for strategic industries.
The agreement builds on Element One’s supply arrangement with Twin Sisters Olivine LLC, announced earlier this year, which provides access to one of North America’s largest deposits of magnesium-rich olivine. Located in Washington State, the Twin Sisters ultramafic complex offers proximity to major transport links and industrial infrastructure, supporting future commercial development.
Revora has already completed laboratory validation of its proprietary IonMet™ extraction technology using a range of ultramafic materials and is preparing to begin pilot-scale testing using Element One’s olivine feedstock. If successful, the process could lead to the commercial production of high-purity magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide and, ultimately, magnesium metal through partnerships with downstream refiners.
The companies say the partnership establishes the key components required to evaluate a fully integrated domestic magnesium production platform, covering raw material supply, mineral processing, pilot-scale testing and potential downstream manufacturing.
The announcement reflects growing efforts across North America to reduce dependence on imported critical minerals as governments seek to strengthen domestic supply chains for industries including defence, clean energy, advanced manufacturing and electric vehicles. Element One believes the partnership positions the company to play a role in supplying strategically important materials as demand for critical minerals continues to increase.
