sHYpS successfully completes Staranzano test campaign for liquid hydrogen maritime technology

The sHYpS consortium has successfully completed the most critical phase of its on-land test campaign at the Staranzano test site, marking a major milestone in the development of its liquid hydrogen storage and handling technology for maritime applications.

Project partners reviewed the results during an Extraordinary General Assembly, highlighting progress achieved during the testing phase and the successful integration and validation of the core technological components of the sHYpS liquid hydrogen storage concept.

The testing campaign evaluated the system under operational conditions and addressed key technical and safety challenges associated with liquid hydrogen storage and handling.

The consortium said the results will provide important technical input for the next stages of development and testing, bringing the project closer to onboard demonstrations of liquid hydrogen technology for shipping.

The sHYpS partners will now continue refining and validating the system as the project advances toward future demonstration activities aimed at supporting safe, flexible and scalable hydrogen-powered maritime transport and Europe’s transition toward zero-emission waterborne mobility.
