RCT Hydrogen wins 10MW green hydrogen project at Portugal’s Sines Port
German electrolyser manufacturer RCT Hydrogen has secured a contract to deliver a 10MW turnkey green hydrogen project at the Port of Sines in Portugal, following the project’s final investment decision.
The company announced it has received a purchase order from Portuguese energy developer Beyond Green for the supply of a complete hydrogen production facility as part of the Sines Green Hydrogen Valley (SinesH2GValley) initiative.
Under the agreement, RCT Hydrogen will deliver the full 10MW electrolyser system, including all equipment required to connect the plant to the medium-voltage electricity grid and produce green hydrogen using renewable power.
The project is expected to begin equipment shipments before the end of 2026, with hydrogen production scheduled to commence during summer 2027.
The facility will use alkaline pressure electrolysis, a well-established hydrogen production technology known for its durability, reliability and efficiency. RCT Hydrogen said its TÜV-certified systems have already been adopted by European industrial customers seeking to reduce carbon emissions from manufacturing processes.
Dr Eric Rüland, Vice President of Sales and Products at RCT Hydrogen, said the Portuguese development is well suited to the company’s technology.

The Sines project is being developed by Beyond Green, a Portuguese company specialising in renewable energy, hydrogen production, storage and utilisation. The final investment decision marks a significant milestone for the wider Sines Green Hydrogen Valley programme, which aims to establish Portugal as a major hub for renewable hydrogen production.
Miguel Matias, Chairman of Beyond Green, said selecting RCT Hydrogen as the turnkey supplier provides confidence in delivering the project on schedule.
“We are happy to sign the turn-key contract with our partner RCT GH as a reliable supplier not only for the equipment, but as well commissioning and start-up of the green hydrogen production,” he said.
“The timeframe for starting shipment still in 2026 and having production start in summer 2027 is challenging, but achievable with the right partners.”
Beyond hydrogen production, the wider Sines Green Hydrogen Valley programme also includes plans to develop supporting infrastructure for hydrogen mobility. The initiative will incorporate a network of hydrogen refuelling stations alongside ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hubs powered by renewable electricity and supported by hydrogen storage and fuel cell technology.
The integrated approach is intended to address two major barriers to clean transport by expanding hydrogen refuelling infrastructure while meeting growing demand for high-capacity electric vehicle charging.
RCT Hydrogen said the competitiveness of the project is supported by its partnership with Guofuhee, which supplies key hydrogen production components. The company added that major manufacturing activities for the project will take place in Germany and elsewhere in Europe through its established supply chain.
The contract strengthens RCT Hydrogen’s presence in the rapidly expanding European green hydrogen market as governments and industry continue investing in large-scale renewable hydrogen production to decarbonise manufacturing, transport and energy systems.
