Kanadevia partners with Oman’s Bahwan Engineering to accelerate green hydrogen projects in the Gulf

Japan’s Kanadevia Corporation has entered into a partnership agreement with Bahwan Engineering Company (BEC), a leading Omani engineering firm, to establish a framework for cooperation on green hydrogen-related projects in Oman.

The agreement covers all stages of project development, from bid preparation through engineering, procurement, manufacturing and sales, for low-carbon fuel projects including green hydrogen and e-methane. The tie-up combines Kanadevia’s core water electrolysis stack technology, which sits at the heart of its hydrogen production systems, with BEC’s extensive local construction and engineering experience.

Kanadevia is currently building a mass production facility for water electrolysis stacks in Tsuru City, Yamanashi Prefecture, with the aim of cutting costs and boosting supply capacity through large-scale manufacturing, and has also decided to invest in a hydrogen fund.

The company is already active in Oman, having concluded a contract with Oman LNG to carry out technical verification and engineering work towards one of the world’s largest commercial methanation plants, which will convert captured carbon dioxide into e-methane using green hydrogen.

The partnership positions both companies to bid jointly for Oman’s expanding pipeline of renewable fuels projects.
