JERA and Taiwan Power Company sign MOU on low-carbon energy cooperation

JERA Co., Inc. and Taiwan Power Company (TPC), Taiwan’s largest vertically integrated power utility, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a framework for cooperation on low-carbon energy technologies and initiatives.

Under the agreement, JERA and TPC will exchange knowledge and technical expertise covering low-carbon fuel value chains, low-carbon fuel power generation technologies, and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

The partnership aims to support Taiwan’s energy transition by combining JERA’s experience across the global energy value chain with TPC’s expertise in Taiwan’s domestic energy market.

JERA is also advancing efforts to establish Japan’s first end-to-end low-carbon ammonia value chain by fiscal 2029, with initiatives spanning ammonia production, transportation and power generation.

The companies said the cooperation will support discussions on potential decarbonization pathways and the development of lower-carbon energy solutions for the region.
