HRS and Baker Hughes Partner to Expand Large-Scale Hydrogen Infrastructure
Hydrogen Refueling Solutions (HRS) has announced a strategic cooperation agreement with Baker Hughes to accelerate the development and deployment of large-scale hydrogen infrastructure solutions for mobility and industrial markets across Europe and international regions.
The three-year partnership will bring together HRS’s expertise in hydrogen infrastructure integration, storage, distribution and refuelling systems with Baker Hughes’ advanced industrial compression technologies, including its VerHy550 vertical hydrogen reciprocating compressor designed for high-capacity hydrogen applications.
The collaboration aims to address growing demand for reliable and scalable hydrogen infrastructure as investment in clean energy, heavy-duty transport and industrial decarbonisation continues to increase.
Under the agreement, HRS and Baker Hughes will work together on a range of hydrogen infrastructure projects, including hydrogen production centres, filling and distribution facilities, hydrogen logistics platforms, refuelling stations and storage solutions. The companies will also focus on integration, installation, commissioning and maintenance activities.
A key objective of the partnership is the creation of integrated hydrogen solutions combining Baker Hughes’ compression technology with HRS’s hydrogen infrastructure capabilities. These solutions are expected to support the development of “Hydrogen Filling Centres” and next-generation hydrogen refuelling stations designed to improve efficiency, reliability and operational performance.
The two companies will also explore ways to optimise the technical and economic performance of hydrogen infrastructure by improving energy efficiency, increasing equipment availability, reducing maintenance requirements and lowering total cost of ownership.
The agreement includes potential joint research and development initiatives, including participation in European funding programmes focused on hydrogen innovation and clean energy technologies.
As demand grows for carbon-free heavy-duty mobility, industrial hydrogen platforms and logistics hubs, HRS and Baker Hughes aim to provide industrial-scale solutions that meet market requirements for safety, performance and long-term reliability.
The partnership follows a non-exclusive cooperation model, allowing both companies to collaborate on individual projects while maintaining their independent commercial strategies and technological capabilities.
