EcoVadis and Novata link carbon data platforms for Scope 3 reporting

EcoVadis and Novata have formed a new partnership to integrate verified supplier carbon data into Novata’s sustainability management platform, aiming to improve the accuracy of corporate emissions reporting and support companies and investors in their decarbonisation efforts.

The collaboration will allow Novata users to access primary carbon metrics collected and verified through EcoVadis’ Carbon Data Network, providing businesses with more detailed emissions information from their supply chains. The companies said the integration is designed to help organisations move away from estimates based on industry averages and improve the accuracy of Scope 3 emissions calculations.

Scope 3 emissions, which cover indirect emissions generated across supply chains, often represent the largest share of a company’s carbon footprint but remain among the most difficult emissions categories to measure due to limited access to supplier-level data.

EcoVadis said the partnership strengthens its Carbon Data Network, an ecosystem connecting primary carbon data with sustainability and carbon accounting platforms to improve transparency and reporting across global supply chains.

Dexter Galvin, Senior Vice President of Climate at EcoVadis, said greater interoperability between climate technology platforms was needed to create more resilient and transparent supply chains. He added that access to reliable supplier data would help companies and financial institutions develop more accurate emissions inventories and implement targeted decarbonisation strategies.

Through the integration, corporate clients and investment firms will be able to transfer verified supplier emissions data directly into Novata’s platform. The companies said this will enable users to analyse Scope 3.1 emissions with greater detail, including insights by location and activity type, helping organisations identify specific areas for emissions reduction.

The partnership also builds on EcoVadis’ recently introduced Carbon Data Reliability Level framework, which is designed to assess the quality and reliability of corporate carbon emissions data.

Conor O’Laoire, Head of Global Partnerships at Novata, said businesses facing increasing regulatory requirements and investor scrutiny need access to detailed and verifiable sustainability information. He said the collaboration would provide customers with greater visibility into supply chain emissions and support more focused sustainability actions.

The agreement comes as companies and investors face growing pressure to improve climate disclosures and demonstrate measurable progress towards emissions reduction targets. Regulators in several markets are introducing stricter sustainability reporting requirements, increasing demand for accurate and auditable carbon data.

By combining EcoVadis’ supplier emissions data with Novata’s sustainability management tools, the companies aim to address one of the biggest challenges in corporate climate reporting: obtaining reliable supply chain information needed to deliver effective Scope 3 emissions reductions.
