Compal Electronics Cuts Carbon Emissions by 33.5% as It Accelerates Net-Zero Transition Across Value Chain

Compal Electronics has reported a 33.5% year-on-year reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions within its standalone financial reporting boundary in 2025, as the electronics manufacturer advances its transition toward its 2050 net-zero target.

The company disclosed the progress in its 2025 Sustainability Report, which outlines actions across climate governance, renewable energy, circular materials, sustainable manufacturing and supply-chain decarbonisation.

Renewable energy accounted for 57.2% of Compal’s total energy consumption in 2025, supporting the company’s reduction in operational emissions. Compal also continued to strengthen climate-related governance and risk management in alignment with IFRS S2.

The company’s resource-circularity efforts also delivered progress. Its waste-to-landfill rate fell to 1.69%, while manufacturing sites in Kunshan, China, and Vietnam achieved UL 2799 Platinum and Gold certifications respectively.

Compal is also incorporating recycled materials into product development. Of 62 innovation projects undertaken during the year, 56% incorporated recycled plastics containing more than 40% recycled content.

One example is OysterPlas, a recycled engineering plastic developed using discarded oyster shells. The material has been incorporated into customer products and commercialised, receiving recognition through awards including the iF Design Award, CES Innovation Award, COMPUTEX Best Choice Award and Red Dot Design Award.

Beyond its own operations, Compal is extending its decarbonisation efforts into its supplier network. During 2025, the company completed ESG and Responsible Business Alliance audits of 85 suppliers, increasing the scale of its supply-chain sustainability programme.

Compal is also continuing its ONE+N Electronics Industry Net-Zero Acceleration Program, which works with suppliers to improve their climate and sustainability capabilities. The programme has achieved cumulative carbon reductions of 14,761 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.

The company said these measures are intended to move its sustainability strategy beyond operational emissions and toward broader value-chain transformation, with supplier collaboration becoming an increasingly important component of its 2050 net-zero pathway.

Compal’s sustainability performance has also received external recognition. The company achieved an S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment score of 89 in 2025 and received the Taiwan Sustainability Report Platinum Award, Taiwan Top 100 Sustainable Companies recognition and Supply Chain Leadership Award at the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards.

In 2026, Compal was also included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook, ranking among the top 5% of companies in the Computers & Peripherals and Office Electronics industry.

The company’s sustainability programme extends beyond climate action into workforce development and social engagement. Women represented 41.05% of Compal’s global workforce and 31.18% of management positions in 2025.

Compal contributed more than NT$17.23 million to social initiatives in Taiwan during the year, with approximately 5,000 participations in community activities benefiting around 73,961 people through programmes covering education, support for disadvantaged groups and other community initiatives.

Compal Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Eric Peng said the company is integrating sustainability into its business operations and value-chain management, with continued focus on low-carbon transition, sustainable innovation and collaboration with partners.

The 2025 results mark another step in Compal’s longer-term decarbonisation strategy, combining lower operational emissions and greater renewable-energy use with circular-material development and supplier engagement. The company aims to build on these initiatives as it works toward achieving net-zero emissions across its operations and value chain by 2050.
