ClimeCo launches AI-powered Scope 3 insetting platform

ClimeCo has launched Inset Engine™, an AI-enabled digital platform designed to help companies identify and implement value-chain emissions reductions (insetting) to support science-based climate targets.

The company also appointed Cynthia Cummis, a co-founder of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and former Deputy Director of the GHG Protocol, as Senior Vice President of Value Chain Strategies.

Inset Engine™ analyzes a company’s Scope 3 emissions or product-level data to identify emissions hotspots and match them with verified market-based insetting opportunities. The platform combines AI with expert review to accelerate the identification and deployment of emissions reduction projects while maintaining alignment with emerging climate reporting standards.

The launch comes as corporate climate frameworks increasingly recognize value-chain interventions. Recent developments include the AIM Platform Standard released in April 2026 and SBTi’s Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0, which incorporates value-chain emissions reductions into its implementation hierarchy. Future updates to the GHG Protocol’s Actions and Market Instruments Standard are also expected to further formalize accounting for emissions reductions achieved through market instruments.

Cummis, who helped establish several of the leading global corporate greenhouse gas accounting frameworks, will lead ClimeCo’s value chain strategy while continuing to participate in international climate standard-setting bodies.

The announcement reflects growing industry demand for digital tools that help companies reduce Scope 3 emissions and comply with evolving corporate decarbonization standards.
